The Alabama Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (ALAPTA) is a statewide professional organization representing approximately members who are physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students. Its goal is to foster advancements in physical therapy practice, research, and education throughout Alabama. The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), a nationwide professional organization represents over 80,000 members.
The Medical Association of the State of Alabama is the professional association for some 7,000 physicians of all specialties throughout Alabama. The association exists to serve, lead and unite physicians in promoting the highest quality of health care for the people of Alabama through advocacy, information and education.
The Alabama Orthopaedic Society (AOS) is a medical education association located in Montgomery, Alabama, comprised of orthopaedic surgeons who are licensed to practice medicine throughout Alabama and/or the United States. The purpose of AOS is the advancement of orthopaedic surgery in all its phases. As of May, 2017, there are approximately 400 orthopaedic surgeons in Alabama, some 280 of which are members of AOS. AOS is represented at the national level by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).
The mission of the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association is to serve its members through outstanding educational and fellowship opportunities and to provide value-added services, at the annual meeting and throughout the year.
