The South Carolina Self-Insurers Association, Inc. was formed in 1975 to develop and support the interests of employers self-insured for workers’ compensation in South Carolina. Over the years the association has served as an effective voice at the General Assembly and before the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission. The self-insurers association is one of the most useful resources for continuing education about workers’ compensation in South Carolina.
Many of South Carolina’s largest employers belong to our association, along with claims professionals and legal firms active in workers’ compensation. Membership is open to employers commercially insured but with a large deductible. Our membership also includes rehab specialists, TPA’s, surveillance professionals, and a number of other supporting members.
The SCOA continues to remain a vibrant professional organization as it adapts to the changing medical
environment. It remains true to its roots as an educational organization, but is now involved in many
advocacy positions to make the practices of its members more effective and efficient.
The mission of the South Carolina Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association is to be the component membership organization of APTA that represents and promotes the profession of physical therapy and furthers the profession's role in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of movement dysfunctions in order to enhance the physical health and functional abilities of the public.
The SCWCEA conducts educational programs and provides educational resources for our members and the general public pertaining to the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Act and its administration by the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission.
